Resolution criteria
The 99th Academy Awards, given by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), honor the best in film for movies released in the United States between January 1 and December 31, 2026. The nominations for the 99th Academy Awards are scheduled to be announced on January 21, 2027, with the awards ceremony scheduled for March 14, 2027, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California. This market will resolve to "Yes" if two or more nominees are announced as winners of the same competitive category at the 99th Academy Awards as the result of a tie in the final voting. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". A tie will qualify if the Academy presents the award in a single category to more than one nominee (e.g., the Best Live Action Short Film tie between "The Singers" and "Two People Exchanging Saliva" at the 98th Academy Awards). A single nomination shared by multiple individuals (e.g., co-directors or multiple producers of one film) will not count as a tie. Honorary Awards, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, and the Scientific and Technical Awards will not be considered. If, for any reason, no winners are declared by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No". The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Academy Awards and AMPAS, including data from their website (e.g., https://www.oscars.org/) and the live broadcast of the award ceremony; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
